ABSTRACT

Pulmonary inflammatory pseudotumor is a rare proliferative lesion of unknown etiology and it accounts for 0.7-1% of all pulmonary tumors. This is a non-neoplastic process and characterized by irregular growth of inflammatory cells and seen in children and young adults mostly and, detected incidentally. A well-demarcated lesion measuring 38x44 mm was detected in posterior segment of the left lower lobe on computed tomography of the chest in a 50-year-old male patient who was admitted with complaints of cough and chest pain. The patient underwent left posterolateral thoracotomy for diagnosis and treatment and the mass lesion in the lower lobe was enucleated. Pathology result was reported as inflammatory pseudotumor. Owing to its rarity of incidence, we presented this case in the light of the literature.
