ABSTRACT

In this study, our goal was to determine usability and value of Conventional Computed Tomography (CT) and High Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) technics in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). For the 25 patients who have COPD prediagnosis, first standart Thorax CT profile which includes the complete thorax then changing collimation, window width and level, reconstruction algorythm, scantime and mA HRCT profile were taken. In our study which includes 25 patients, we visualized normal findings in HRCT and Conventionel CT was normal, pathologic findings were available in HRCT for 3 patients. We found out findings in HRCT which could not be visualized in Conventionel CT for total 14 patients. We determined findings which are visualized in Conventional CT and HRCT both were surveyed more specifically and more acutely limited with HRCT for total 19 patients. The results are meaningful according to statistics. The result of study is similar to literature. As a result, our study shows that HRCT is more effective than Conventional CT in detection of COPD.
