SummaryThe respiratory distress syndrome associated with transfusions is called \Transfusion Related Acute Lung Injury\ (TRALI)). It is underdiagnosed because of its frequent mild and moderate clinical forms. The estimated prevalance is between 1/5000 - 1/300 cases per year. On the other hand, it is the second most frequent cause for transfusion related deaths after hemolysis. Because of its high prevalence and fatal complications, TRALI has become one of the major topics recently. A 24 year old male patient was admitted to the hospital because of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. After theblood transfusion, the patient had acute respiratory distress. He was transported to the intensive care unit and in the following days his clinical status changed dramatically with complete recovery.Key words: Transfusion, respiratory distress, TRALI
