ABSTRACT

Inflammatory pseudotumor is a benign tumor of unknown etiology and is rarely seen in the spleen. It often mimics benign and malignant tumors. The diagnosis is easily made because of the characteristic histopathological features. The most important characteristic of inflammatory pseudotumor is that the clinical and laboratory findings completely disappear after surgical resection. It often settles in lungs, but can also be seen anywhere throughout the body. In this report, we aimed to present a rare case of inflammatory pseudotumor of the spleen in a 65-year-old male patient who underwent splenectomy for a tumorous mass and whose definitive diagnosis was established by histological examination of the resected specimen.
